2010-2011 School Year Information

 

 2010-2011 CALENDAR

 

For the 2010-2011 school year we have a few changes in our faculty. Ms. Bielin and Mrs. Sandi will not be returning to Blessed Sacrament School this coming year. Mrs. Joan Callini will now be the Preschool 4yr old teacher along with her aides, Mrs. Nilda and Mrs. Ann. Miss Kim will be the aide for the 3yr old preschool program. We are in the process of hiring a teacher for the 3year old program. Mrs. Potishnak and Ms. Gaughan will be the first and third grade homeroom teachers while Mrs. Caproni will teach a daily section of Reading and Language Arts for grade 1 and Language Arts and Math for grade 3. Although first and third grade will have only one homeroom, in the areas of Reading, Language Arts and Math, it will be like having two separate classrooms for each of these grades. Mrs. Pueschel will teach 5th grade Math, Library for grades 1-4, and Enrichment for grades 1-6. Ms. Cavanaugh will be our new Technology and Remedial Education teacher for K-8. Seventh and Eighth grade students will not have Spanish, but will Home Ec/ Art with Mrs. Kane as well as an additional Technology class. We are focusing on writing throughout Blessed Sacrament School this year and students will have a weekly writing class. We will also be looking for singers to join us in the choir for our school masses too!

Preschool Orientation will be on Tuesday, August 24th from 5-6 p.m. for the 4 year old program and on Wednesday, August 25th from 5-6 p.m. for the 3 year old program. Parents and students attend this orientation.

Our First Day of School is Wednesday, September 1, 2010.
Grades 1-8 will start at 7:50 as usual on Sept. 1st. Students may arrive at 7:35 at the earliest. There is morning bus service for grades 1-8 and afternoon bus service for grades K-8.

Kindergarten:
Students with last names A-M will attend 8:30-1:45 on Sept 1, N-Z stay home (no a.m. bus service)
Students with last names N-Z will attend 8:30-1:45 on Sept 2, A-M stay home (no a.m. bus service)
All Kindergarten students attend school on Friday, Sept 3, 7:50-1:45 with bus service (regular hours)

Preschool:
All students who attend on Wednesdays attend on Sept 1 from 9-11 or 9-1:45
All students who attend on Thursdays attend on Sept 2 from 9-11 or 9-1:45
All students who attend on Fridays will attend on Sept 3 from 7:50-11 or 7:50-1:45 (regular hours)

Our first mass for the school year will be on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 9 a.m. Please mark it on your calendar! Our Blessed Sacrament School Community will also attend first Friday mass each month at 9 a.m. and as always you are invited to join us!

After School Extended Care (ASEC):
Begins on Wed. Sept 1 for grades 1-8
Begins on Tues. Sept 7 for Preschool and Kindergarten
Our After School Extended Care program (ASEC) will be available on selected early release days. A list of these dates will be released in September.
Enclosed is a registration form for the After School Extended Care (ASEC) program. If you are interested in using the program starting in September, please be sure to complete the form and return it to the middle school along with your supply check. Please notice the July 26th deadline date for registration.

Before you start school shopping, here are a few changes to our dress code:
Sneakers: any solid colors (examples: solid red & solid white or solid black & solid grey), no lights or wheels, no writing, drawings, patterns or designs/decorations. Sneaker logos such as Nike, New Balance, etc. are fine. (laces: any solid color, both shoes must have matching laces)
Socks: white, black, or tan socks (top of sock must be able to be seen)
Earrings: Boys may not wear earrings to school or to school events.
Girls may wear one single stud earring in each ear OR one single hoop in each ear that is no larger than one-quarter of an inch long or wide. Hoops may NOT be worn on gym day. Wire earrings or dangling/hanging earrings of any kind are not allowed.
If we have any other uniform details and updates, they will be sent home in your August packet.
