Monarch Migration Project

The 5th grade social studies classes have mailed their ambassador butterflies to children in Mexico! This was part of the Journey North foundation's yearly Monarch migration project. We learned the geography of the Mexican Monarch sanctuaries, discussed stewardship, conservation, ambassadorship, and Mexican culture. This is an ongoing program and we expect some symbolic butterflies to migrate back to us in the spring.

Thanks to all of the parents who were so supportive of "Monarch Mania." Students were happy to report their sightings, bring in photos, newspaper clippings, and visit the butterfly gardens on their own.
