Fr. Christopher Malatesta
Fr. Chris was born in Northampton, MA in 1966 and attended grade schools there.
His family later moved to Pittsfield where he attended Pittsfield High School
graduating with the class of 1985. He is one of four boys. All of
his brothers are married and live out of the area. Fr. Chris
attended Fitchburg State College graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Business in 1989. He did his graduate studies in theology at Saint John's
Seminary and was awarded the Masters of Divinity Degree in 1993. Fr. Chris
was ordained by the late Bishop John Marshall at Saint Michael's Cathedral on
June 5, 1993 and celebrated his first Mass at Sacred Heart Parish in Pittsfield
on June 6th.After his ordination, Fr. Chris was assigned to Immaculate Conception Parish in Easthampton, MA. His next assignment was to the Bishop's Office as Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Springfield with additional duties as Director of Camp Holy Cross in Goshen. His most recent assignment was as chaplain of Cathedral High School in Springfield and Holyoke Catholic High School in Holyoke. He has been active on many boards and commissions in the diocese. He presently serves on the Bishop's Presbyteral Council, Bishop's Commission for the Clergy, Youth Advisory Council and Vocations Interviewing Team.
Fr. Chris loves his ministry in Dalton, Hinsdale and Becket as well
as his duties as Director of Camp Holy Cross. He hopes parishioners
find him approachable, caring and full of energy.
