Principal Report:

Anne introduced our newest member of the School Board, Ms. Ann Connor. Ms. Connor is a parish member with School Psychology in her background. Welcome Ann.

Re-Registration status:

We do have waiting lists for some classes. Parents will be contacted where openings occur.

Anne commented that we have not had any negative comments/reactions to the newly implemented $100 non-refundable deposit toward tuition with registration. She has also not heard new complaints about next years proposed tuition increase.

Fundraising update:

Candy Sale: Our first Candy Sale took place in early March. We have an estimated $3,500 profit from the Sale. We will continue this in future years, but not during Lent.

Road Race: planned for June 5, 2004

Golf Outing: planned for October 8, 2004 at Oakridge CC.

Misc. Items:

Second School Open House planned for May, at night. A second Open House is being planned for a weeknight in May. We will try to tie the Open House with Longmeadow Days and Parents and Students visiting Parishes. We will be advertising in newspapers and church bulletins for the Open House.

Joe suggested that we send flyers to other Parishes and we volunteer to attach them to that week’s bulletin.

Our Schools’ new softball T-ball team began practice today. This team is for boys and girls in the 2nd through 4th grades. It was mentioned that we should sell candy and water at these games as a fundraiser.

The annual Development Letter requesting school support is in the final writing stages and will be mailed in the next 8 weeks.

Presidents’ Report:

Budget YTD is $44,000 less than budgeted (for the 8 months into the school year).

John O'Rourke, Joe Monahan and Jim Rooney will begin working on the 2004/2005 school year budget. The budget needs to be complete before the end of this school year.

Joe stated that we would see increases in the Property/Casualty Insurance premiums next year and the Health Insurance premiums.

The finance Committee will be looking closer at the budget for Heating Oil and tuition assessments.

Misc.:

Fr. Reilly raised the topic of seeking parishioners who wish to sponsor student in need. Fr. Reilly will prepare a letter or bulletin insert to be sent out in April.

Brian Mitchell raised the topic of having Marcia in the Parish finance office handle the record keeping and billing for the before and after school care program. This will save us Approximately $2,000.00 per school year. Marcia has the time and knowledge to perform this job.

Fr. Reilly would like our current students to "sell" (an "outreach" program) St. Mary School at their own parishes. They would speak to their parishes at Mass and have brochures available and flyers attached to the bulletins. This could tied into the Open House.

Joe has asked us think and prepare any suggestions on how the Board may restructure its meeting to be more productive.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at 7:00pm

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm

Respectfully submitted,

Kevin J. Hassett (with many notes from Judy Kniskern and Brian Mitchell)
