Principal Report:
- On May 6 there will be an Open House at St Mary School from 6 to 8 PM. Notices have gone out in Church bulletins in the diocese, an advertisement was placed in The Reminder and in local newspapers.
- Registration is going well. 190 students have registered to date. More are expected. There are 210 students in the 2003/2004 school year.
- Fundrasing - Joanne Denver has been organizing the Walk/Run Road Race for June 5th. There is a Golf outing on October 8th. Several sponsors have already committed monies. A Silent Auction and Dinner is planned for next Spring.
- Budgeting - all finances will be handled in the Rectory next year. This is inclusive of tuition, F.A.C.T.S and the before and after school program.
- Both school copiers leases' are up. Suggestions on what to do - purchase or lease are welcomed.
- The Development drive will occur after the Diocese Annual Appeal. This is a directive from the Diocesan office.
Joe Monahan
- Joe talked of a different direction for the school board meetings. He believes there should be summaries provided from all the different activities going on, e.g., Technology, Fundraising, Accreditation, Long range planning/recruitment, and Finance.
- Joe would like to have a person retained on a commission basis to work on development. This is a unique position. Gene Cassidy believes, from his experience, that this type of individual will want a retainer on top of the commission and will implement ideas but not come up with any.
Bob Nell
- The Unico Club is sponsoring $1900.00 for the ballfield backstop and "dugout" fences. Brodeur Campbell Fence will install the fences the week of May 2 - 7.
- A proposal to put a rock with a plaque in honor of Monsignor Devine was made. This would be added next year. Dinn Brothers will be contacted for the plaque details.
- The possibility of a concession stand was discussed for games next year.
Mary Lou Walthouse volunteered for the steering committee for Accreditation.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 7:00 PM
Ed Paprocki has been involved in updating the school computers. Kevin Hassett and Brian Mitchell should contact Ed to get updated on what Ed has been doing.
A request was made to investigate what Cathedral High School has on their web site related to Alumni.
Realtors will be contacted with brochure distribution request. A Longmeadow welcome committed exists. This group needs to be contacted.
Fr. Reilly is considering going to other parishes to say Mass and talk about the school in a recruitment drive.
The Parents Association meeting is scheduled for May 19th. This is normally at 7 PM. A request will be made to move it to 6 PM followed by a meeting at 7 PM with parent to encourage families about the future and success of the school.
Fr. Reilly closed the meeting with a prayer.
The meeting adjourned at 8:40 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Kevin J. Hassett
