Church Renovation Project
2004-2008

Architectural Plans

The renovation plans focus on three main areas: the narthex (the front entrance to the church), the sanctuary area; and the former sacristy/chapel. (See the scope of work for more information.) The plans you see here are current as of June 2007.

1. Narthex (Entrance to the Church)

Narthex will accomodate an immersion font for baptisms, with access to a vesting room. (Adjacent penitential room shown will be accessed through main church.)
2. Sanctuary

Sanctuary: make handicapped accessible, create slightly more space around ambo, provide new chairs and kneelers for servers, etc.
Organ: current electronic organ is beginning to fail; replace with pipe organ
Music space: relocate to rear of sanctuary, with organ console and piano, choir space, and lectern for cantor
Lighting: improve lighting over sanctuary and music space and in bay areas; repair electrical switches and relays and add electrical outlets at bays, etc.
Stations of the Cross throughout the church, closer to eye level
Crucifix and risen Jesus: conform with guidelines of USCCB (Built of Living Stones); mount crucifix high on rear wall behind altar; incorporate current risen Jesus into the crucifix.
3. Chapel for Daily Mass

Daily Mass and adoration chapel to accomodate 50 people, dedicated to Mary; make physically separate from sacristy. Seating to be furnished with 40 moveable chairs with tilt-up kneelers, plus 10 prie-dieu for front rows. Statues of Joseph, Patrick and Theresa formerly in main church to be hung on wall on opposite side of altar from Mary shrine.
