Michael the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum
St. Michael Cemetery, Springfield, MA
In response
to the growing demand for above-ground burial space and a desire to
provide for chapel services, the Diocese of Springfield is pleased to
announce that a marketing campaign has been approved to start in late
January for sale of crypts in a mausoleum to be built once 65% of the
crypts are sold at St. Michael cemetery. Named in honor of St. Michael
the Archangel, this beautiful new facility has been designed not only
to be an enduring monument to those who have passed, but also to be
a peaceful and serene sanctuary for the grieving.
Centrally
located within the cemetery, the new mausoleum will be approached via
a winding drive through a sheltered entrance portico. The unique traditional
design of the building will feature poured in place concrete construction
with a split-face granite facade. A central chapel adorned by stained
glass windows, Carrara marble walls, murals, a wooden cathedral ceiling
and skylights that will provide a beautiful, sheltered environment for
committal services and visitation. The chapel will provide a peaceful
and serene atmosphere where visitors will be encouraged to linger in
private prayer and meditation.
St. Michael
the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum will provide limited numbers of entombment
crypts in both interior chapel and exterior locations. Cremation niches
will also be provided for the inurnment of cremains.
