To ensure the quality and growth of the Diaconate in the Diocese of Springfield, a Pre-Formation Program was established. Through the program’s process of spiritual development and lay ministry courses, potential candidates for ordination gain an increased awareness and better understanding of their responsibility to serve. The program provides men an opportunity to spiritually discern the vocation to serve and an opportunity to grow in their knowledge of the Church prior to formally applying to the Diaconate Formation Program. The Church is constantly being faced with new challenges and the Diaconate plays a major role in helping to meet and fulfill these challenges.
