The Easter Triduum (meaning three days) is the solemn observance of Christ's Death and Resurrection which are, as we might say, two sides of the same coin. The Easter Triduum begins with the evening Mass of the Lord's Supper (Holy Thursday) continues with the Good Friday observance and reaches its high point with the celebration of the Easter Vigil.

Holy Thursday, April 2nd
is the anniversary of the Last Supper, when Christ instituted the Eucharist, the Sacrifice of the Mass, and the Sacrament of the Priesthood. Holy Thursday is also called Maundy Thursday, taken from the Latin mandatum which means “commandment.” When our Lord washed the feet of His Apostles, He said, “I give you a new commandment; that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34). The Mass of the Lord's Supper will be at 7:00 p.m. and will include with the ceremony of the Washing of the Feet.

Good Friday, April 3rd
is the only day of the year when Mass is not celebrated in the Roman rite. This is the day of Christ’s death on the Cross, and has been a day of fast and abstinence from the earliest Christian times. The Stations of the Cross, in which we remember the love of Jesus on His way to Calvary, will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. A Communion Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. which will include the service of the veneration of the Cross.
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will begin today following Stations of the Cross and will be prayed daily at 3:00 p.m. for nine consecutive days concluding on Mercy Sunday.

Holy Saturday, April 4th
is the eve of Easter and the day Christ remained in the tomb. The Easter Vigil is an approximation of the ancient Easter Vigil (to keep watch) which would conclude with Easter Mass at dawn. The Easter Vigil of our Lord’s Resurrection will take place at 8:00 p.m. in the church and is the most solemn evening in the entire Church year which includes the blessing of fire, representing Christ, the Light of the World, and the blessing of water, representing our new life through Baptism. Included in this Vigil service will be the prophetic readings from the Old and New Testaments anticipating the Resurrection.
Day two of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Novena will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. in the Adoration Chapel.

Easter Sunday, April 5th
The Masses for Easter day celebrating the central fact of Christianity of the Resurrection of our Lord will be at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Day three of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Novena will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. in the Adoration Chapel.

Divine Mercy Sunday, April 12th
The Masses for Divine Mercy Sunday will be on Saturday, April 11th at 4:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 12th at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The Franklin County Deanery will sponsor a Divine Mercy Celebration at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield on Sunday, April 12th. The service will include Benediction, Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Novena Prayer. Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski will be the Presider and Homilist. Confessions will be available from 1:45 – 3:00 p.m. The celebration will begin at 3:00 p.m.
