The Conventual Franciscans begin new online ministry at

www.franciscans.org

Mount St. Francis , Indiana , February 9, 2007 : The Conventual Franciscans have taken another step into the digital world and online ministry by launching two exciting podcasting channels on their website, www.franciscans.org. Podcasting is a new form of digital content delivery that is commonly associated with Apple's iTunes and iPod device. Initially franciscans.org will offer audio podcast presentations on a weekly and daily scheduled basis.

The weekly podcast channel is a short format (4 to 10 minutes) presentation offered by a diverse group of our Friars from around the world. The subject matter will range from Franciscan spirituality to significant events in the Church calendar to Holy Scripture to everyday stories that illuminate our faith. The unifying aspect of these weekly podcasts is the speakers' gift of storytelling. The new presentations will be posted on the website every Friday at 3:00 pm EST and can be subscribed to via iTunes or listened to directly from franciscans.org. This new online ministry represents an opportunity for the listener to reflect upon his or her life and to come closer to God whenever they need to.

The Daily Scripture Reflection channel offers homilies based on the prescribed daily readings. Friar Jude Winkler, OFM Conv., a scripture scholar and noted preacher is the homilist. His presentations leave the listener excited for more and appreciative of having learned something new. Friar Jude creates a detailed world that existed over two thousand years ago while providing context and connection to our roles as Christians in the world today. The reflections are available 24/7 and are posted daily in advance.

The Conventual Franciscan Friars (Order Friars Minor Conventual) is an international order of Catholic, priests and brothers, living in community and serving the faithful and the poor according to the Rule of 1223 written by St Francis of Assisi. The Friars have served the North American Catholic community through multiple ministries for over 150 years
