Bulletin Announcement

The Marriage and Family Life Office of the Springfield Diocese is sponsoring a Candle Light Prayer Remembrance Service at 7:00 p.m. on December 13, 2009 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine St., West Springfield. This is in spirit with “The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting” held annually the second Sunday in December. This prayer service is for the families and friends who wish to remember children of theirs who have died at any age from any cause. Following the service all are invited to gather for coffee and light refreshments in the Parish Center. For more information please call Deacon Jim Conroy at 452-0614.

OUR PURPOSE:

  • To assist parishes in establishing support groups for the bereaved by providing training and resource materials.
  • Spiritual guidance
  • Information on general and particular bereavement groups
  • Training for parish bereavement ministries
  • Lending library books, tapes and videos
  • Individual assessment of bereavement needs
  • Grief education materials
  • Retreats/programs for the bereaved

BEREAVEMENT TRAINING FOR LEADERS

Any Parish seeking extra training for leaders in bereavement is asked to contact the Family Life Office. Deacon Jim Conroy will set up some time for you to be trained to facilitate a group. Many updated materials are available for you to view and absorb. This will greatly help in providing a sensitive and supportive program for any person who has lost a loved one.

This day is for individuals and families who have lost a loved one and are trying to walk through the pain of their grief.
